Technical Requirements for Online Learning

Getting started with our real estate education programs is straightforward. Most modern devices work perfectly fine, but we want you to know exactly what you'll need before enrollment opens in mid-2026. Here's what works best for streaming video lessons, accessing course materials, and participating in live sessions.

  • Operating System: Windows 10+, macOS 10.14+
  • Processor: Intel i3 or equivalent
  • RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
  • Screen Resolution: 1366x768 or higher
  • Storage: 5GB free space for materials

Tablets

  • iOS Devices: iPad (5th gen or newer), iOS 13+
  • Android Tablets: Android 8.0 or newer
  • Screen Size: 9.7 inches minimum recommended
  • RAM: 3GB or more
  • Note: Some interactive tools work better on larger screens

Mobile Phones

  • iPhone: iPhone 8 or newer, iOS 13+
  • Android: Android 8.0 or newer
  • Screen Size: 5 inches or larger
  • Best For: Quick reviews, reading materials
  • Consideration: Assignments easier on tablets or computers

Software and Applications

What You'll Need Installed

We use industry-standard tools that most professionals already have. Nothing exotic or expensive required here. You'll need a current web browser — we'll cover which ones in a moment — and a PDF reader for course materials.

Some of our practical exercises use spreadsheets for financial calculations. Microsoft Excel works great, but Google Sheets (which is free) handles everything just as well. We provide templates that work with both.

For our live virtual sessions, we use Zoom. It's free to download and runs on pretty much anything. Our February 2025 test sessions showed that even students on older laptops had smooth experiences.

Supported Web Browsers

Google Chrome

Version 90 or newer

Mozilla Firefox

Version 88 or newer

Microsoft Edge

Version 90 or newer

Safari

Version 14 or newer

Opera

Version 76 or newer

Most people already have a compatible browser. If yours is more than a year old, updating takes just a few minutes and gives you better security anyway. All our video content uses standard HTML5 — no Flash or special plugins needed.

Internet Connection Speeds

Connection Type Download Speed Video Quality Experience
High-Speed Broadband Recommended 25 Mbps or higher Full HD (1080p) Smooth streaming, no buffering, great for live sessions
Standard Broadband 10-25 Mbps HD (720p) Good quality, occasional buffering possible during peak hours
Basic Broadband 5-10 Mbps Standard (480p) Works fine, may need to adjust quality settings manually
Mobile Data (4G/LTE) Varies widely Adaptive Usable but watch your data limits on video-heavy modules

Common Technical Issues and Solutions

Video Won't Play or Keeps Buffering

This happens when your connection speed drops. Try these quick fixes:

  • Lower the video quality in player settings
  • Close other tabs and applications using bandwidth
  • Move closer to your WiFi router
  • Try a wired connection if possible
  • Download the lesson for offline viewing when available

Can't Access Course Materials

Usually a browser cache issue or outdated credentials:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Try logging in using a private/incognito window
  • Make sure you're using your registered email address
  • Check that your enrollment period is currently active
  • Switch to a different browser temporarily

Live Session Audio Problems

Audio issues during virtual classes usually have simple solutions:

  • Check your device volume isn't muted
  • Verify Zoom has microphone/speaker permissions
  • Test your audio in Zoom settings before class
  • Use headphones to reduce echo and feedback
  • Restart Zoom and rejoin the session

Screen Display Issues

If content looks odd or elements overlap on your screen:

  • Zoom out or reset your browser zoom to 100%
  • Update your browser to the latest version
  • Try viewing in full-screen mode
  • Rotate mobile devices to landscape orientation
  • Disable browser extensions temporarily

Still Having Technical Difficulties?

Our support team tests all learning materials monthly to catch problems early. If something's still not working after trying these solutions, we're here to help figure it out together.

What Students Say About Accessibility

I was worried my older MacBook wouldn't cut it, but everything ran smoothly. The platform adjusted video quality automatically when my internet got shaky, which saved me during a couple of live sessions when my kids were streaming stuff at the same time.

Being able to switch between my tablet and phone made studying so much easier. I'd watch lectures on my iPad at home, then review notes on my phone during lunch breaks. The mobile experience was better than I expected for an online course.

Getting Set Up Before Classes Begin

We send detailed setup instructions about three weeks before your program starts in 2026. You'll get step-by-step guides with screenshots for each device type.

There's also a practice module you can access early — it's just a short walkthrough of the platform with sample videos and assignments. Lets you test everything without any pressure.

Most students spend maybe 20 minutes getting everything configured. The practice module caught a few browser issues for people in our January 2025 pilot group, which was exactly what we wanted.

Accessibility Features Built Into Our Platform

Testing Your Setup

Once enrollment opens for our 2026 programs, you'll get access to a system checker tool. It runs automatically in your browser and tells you if anything needs updating. Takes about 30 seconds and covers everything — browser version, connection speed, audio/video permissions, screen resolution.

The tool gives you specific instructions if it finds any issues. Something like "Your Firefox is version 85, but version 88+ works better — here's the update link." Pretty straightforward.
